WATERPROOF MEMBRANE INSTALLATION IN LONDON
Free site survey, a written diagnosis and a fixed, itemised quotation — for warehouses and factories across London
London sites come to us with roofs, basements, and wet areas that have started to fail. The survey establishes why before anything is specified, and the written diagnosis goes to you with photographs.
How the Work Is Carried Out
From Park Royal to Beckton, the pattern is the same: survey, written diagnosis, fixed quotation, then installation to the relevant part of BS EN 1504 or BS 8102:2022. Fast-cure systems are specified where uptime is the constraint and conventional materials where durability matters more.

Why Choose MPS?
Systems We Install & Where They're Used
We waterproof basements, roofs, wet areas and below-ground structures with both liquid-applied and sheet systems, chosen to suit the substrate and exposure.
Liquid-Applied
Cold-applied liquid waterproofing that cures to a seamless, flexible coat. Ideal for complex details, irregular surfaces, and areas requiring perfect continuity without joints.
HDPE Sheet
High-density polyethylene sheets for basement tanking and below-ground waterproofing, providing robust protection against hydrostatic water pressure with long-term durability.
Bituminous Torch-On
Multi-layer torch-applied bituminous felts for flat roofs, podium decks, and external waterproofing, creating durable barriers resistant to UV, root penetration, and mechanical damage.
GRP Fibreglass Systems
Glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) resin systems for balconies, walkways, and wet areas, providing monolithic waterproof surfaces with excellent durability and aesthetic finishes.
Single-Ply Roofing
EPDM, PVC and TPO single-ply sheets for flat roofs, offering lightweight, long-life solutions with heat-welded seams and excellent weather resistance.
Basement Tanking
Type A barrier protection to BS 8102, including gas-resistant grades for contaminated land and radon protection applications.
How the Installation Is Carried Out
Surface Preparation
Substrates are cleaned, repaired, and prepared to receive the waterproofing. This includes crack filling, levelling, priming, and ensuring surfaces are dry and free from contamination.
Detail Treatment
Critical details like upstands, penetrations, corners, and joints receive specialist treatment with reinforcement strips, flashings, and primers to ensure waterproof integrity at vulnerable points.
Application
The system is applied to the manufacturer's specification - liquid systems by roller/spray, sheet membranes by torch-on or adhesive bonding, with proper overlaps and sealed joints.
Testing & Protection
Completed areas are flood-tested or electronically tested for continuity, protected with screed, insulation, or protective layers, and certified with manufacturer-backed guarantees.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does waterproof membrane installation cost?
Costs vary significantly by type, area size, and application. Liquid-applied systems typically range from £25-£60/m², sheet membranes £30-£80/m², and GRP systems £80-£120/m² including preparation and detailing. Complex areas with multiple penetrations cost more than simple flat surfaces.
Which waterproof membrane is best for my application?
The right choice depends on substrate type, exposure conditions, accessibility, and performance requirements. Basements typically use HDPE sheet or liquid systems, flat roofs use torch-on or single-ply systems, balconies use GRP or liquid coatings, and wet rooms use tanking systems. We assess your specific situation and recommend the most suitable system.
How long do waterproof membranes last?
Manufacturers typically state design lives of around 15-25 years for liquid-applied systems, 25-50 years for HDPE sheet, 20-30 years for GRP and 20-40 years for single-ply roofing, provided the system is installed and maintained to their specification. Many systems come with manufacturer guarantees of 10-25 years when installed by approved contractors.
Can waterproof membranes be installed over existing surfaces?
Yes, many membrane systems can be applied over existing substrates if properly prepared. Old failed coverings may need removal, but sound concrete, screed, or existing waterproofing can often be overcoated with appropriate primers and preparation. We assess substrate condition and recommend the best approach.
Does waterproofing need maintenance once installed?
Most systems are low-maintenance. We recommend bi-annual inspections of exposed areas (roofs, balconies) to check drainage outlets remain clear, no mechanical damage has occurred, and flashings remain watertight. Below-ground systems require minimal maintenance once protected and covered.

How we get to London
From our yard at Gamlingay in South Cambridgeshire, London is one and a half to two and a half hours. Day-return working on most jobs, which is why we can split works into short phases around your occupancy instead of taking an area out for a fortnight.
We say this plainly because it shows up in the price. Mobilisation, access plant and preparation equipment are largely fixed costs, so a single small repair a long way from base carries a much higher rate per square metre than the same work next door to us, or the same work bundled with other defects on one visit. If you have more than one problem on the site, it is worth having them all surveyed at once.
