Question

What is scabbling?

Expert Answer
Scabbling is a mechanical process using a machine with multiple pounding pistons (scabblers) to chip away the concrete surface. It is more aggressive than grinding and is used to remove significant layers of concrete (e.g., contaminated surfaces) or to create a very rough profile (high CSP) for heavy-duty renders or toppings. It is loud and dusty, so vacuum attachments and containment are essential.
