Can you repair concrete cracks without rebuilding?

Question

Can you repair concrete cracks without rebuilding?

Expert Answer
Yes, most concrete cracks can be repaired without demolition using resin injection. For non-structural cracks causing leaks, we use flexible polyurethane (PU) resins that expand to seal the void. For structural cracks where the concrete needs to be 'welded' back together, we use low-viscosity epoxy resins. These resins are injected under pressure to penetrate deep into the crack, restoring the monolithicity of the structure often making the repair stronger than the original concrete.
