Why do you need a sump and pump system?

Question

Why do you need a sump and pump system?

Expert Answer
In a Type C (Cavity Drain) system, the water collected behind the membrane must go somewhere. If gravity drainage (draining downhill to a sewer) isn't possible—which is common in basements below the sewer line—a sump and pump station is required. The sump collects the water, and submersible pumps lift it to the external drains. We always install dual pumps with battery backups to ensure protection even during power cuts or pump failure.
