Question

What is a bonding bridge?

Expert Answer
A bonding bridge (or bonding agent) is a slurry applied to the prepared existing concrete surface immediately before applying the new repair mortar. It acts as a glue, enhancing the adhesion between the old and new materials. It is critical that the repair mortar is applied 'wet-on-wet' into the bonding bridge; if it dries out, it becomes a debonding layer (a bond breaker) instead.
