Sterling Court

Sterling Court forms part of a multiple phase, 937 house, 30 acre regeneration scheme known locally as Edgware Green. Comprising of new roads, walkways, parks, halls, offices and a church, main contractor Barratt Homes certainly paid attention to detail to create a wonderful community space for all ages.

The Challenge

The main groundworker, Foundation Developments Ltd, started works on Sterling Court in late 2014 and soon instructed MPS Concrete Solutions Ltd to be part of the build. The car park slab was being poured using PUDLO waterproof concrete up against the sheet piles. Whilst the slab would be issued with a guarantee for the waterproof concrete, the interface between the slab and sheet pile could prove a vulnerable area with high likelihood of water ingress, unless a waterproofing detail was found.

The MPS Solution

At MPS, we pride ourselves on our ability to be proactive and act preemptively to prevent any system failure. We assessed the environment, risk factors and potential movement to ensure that our detail was tailor-made for the project.

This approach has proven to be successful on multiple projects, achieving the desired result time and time again. MPS Concrete Solutions Ltd worked alongside NHBC, Foundation Developments Ltd and PUDLO to supply and install an injection hose system along the slab and sheet pile interface. This is guaranteed and issued with a 20 year warranty by MPS. Over the project’s duration, fully trained MPS staff attended site as and when required to install and inject the hose system. A total of 300 metres of injection hose was used throughout this project without any issues.

A Successful Outcome

The outcome at Sterling Court was a fully sealed and completely warranted underground car park. This means that that both the client and vendor can rest assured that their property will remain moisture-free into the future.
